Budget Supervision Office - Introduction  

The Budget Supervision Office of the Republic of Slovenia is a central body for harmonization and co-ordination of the public internal financial control system. It is responsible for development, harmonization and supervision of the financial management and internal control system as well as internal audit of direct and indirect budget spending centres on the central and local level.

In the field of spending of the EU funds the Budget Supervision Office acts as an independent body for financial control, so that, among others, performs pre-accreditation reviews, certifies annual declarations of expenditures, issues winding-up declarations and performs independent control of correct use of EU funds.

As central co-ordination point for co-operation with European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) it co-ordinates activities referring to the protection of Communities’ financial interests and. It regularly proceeds and submits to the European Commission the reports on irregularities.

An important part of the activities traditionally represents budgetary inspection.
